Profiat Duran (Efodi)

Profiat Duran, known by the acronym Efodi, was a Catalan Jewish philosopher, grammarian, astronomer and polemicist, author of the Hebrew grammar 'Ma'aseh Efod' and of sharp anti-Christian polemics such as 'Al Tehi ka-Avotekha.' Forced to convert during the anti-Jewish riots of 1391, he outwardly lived as a Christian while continuing to defend Judaism in his writings. He was a Jewish scholar who remained committed to his faith.
