Immanuel ben Solomon, a Jewish poet, biblical exegete and philosopher of medieval Italy, is best known for the 'Mahberot,' a collection of prosimetra. Writing in both Hebrew and Italian and moving in the same circles as Dante's contemporaries, he was the first to compose sonnets in a language other than Italian, introducing the form into Hebrew verse and founding secular Hebrew poetry.
