Paula Kalmar-Wolf is recognized among Jewish contributors to Sports — Austro-Hungarian women's chess champion of the early 20th century; Jewish. Inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame.
Austrian chess master who, though she learned the game only in her thirties, became one of the strongest women players of the 1920s and early 1930s. She was three times a Women's World Championship challenger, placing third at London 1927 and second at Hamburg 1930 and Prague 1931, both times behind Vera Menchik. This Jewish player was inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame in 2017.
