Paul Zindel is recognized among Jewish contributors to Arts & Literature — Pulitzer Prize for Drama
Paul Zindel won the 1971 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for 'The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds', drawn from his Staten Island childhood, and went on to write hugely popular young-adult novels such as 'The Pigman'. He taught chemistry at Tottenville High School for ten years before writing full time. The Jewish Telegraphic Agency counted him among the Jews who died in 2003; Wikipedia states that both his parents were of Ashkenazi Jewish origin, though that section of the article carries no citation, and his mainstream obituaries do not mention his background.
