How & why
Kramm was an American playwright, actor and director who won the 1952 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for The Shrike, a taut psychological drama about a man wrongly confined to a mental hospital, later adapted into a film. He had earlier worked for years as a stage actor. He was Jewish, from an American Jewish family in Philadelphia.
