How & why
Otto Eckstein was a German-American economist who coined the term 'core inflation,' served on the U.S. Council of Economic Advisers, and co-founded Data Resources Inc., a pioneer of large-scale economic forecasting. Born into a Jewish family in Ulm, he fled Nazi Germany as a boy; he was of documented Jewish origin. He was a longtime Harvard professor.
