Orit Mossinson is recognized among Israeli contributors to Technology & Engineering — Co-founder of Wix in 2006 and Israeli venture investor; her doctorate was on internet marketing and branding, the problem Wix went on to solve.
Orit Mossinson-Laufer was born in Ramat HaSharon on 26 April 1975 to Ruth and Ilon, the youngest of three and the granddaughter of David Mossinson of the Haganah — the Jewish underground defence organisation of the Yishuv, which is the sourced statement of descent this card rests on. She took a bachelor's and a master's in business administration at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and a doctorate in California on internet marketing and branding: the exact problem Wix would go on to solve.
In 2006 she founded Wix with Avishai Abrahami, his brother Nadav and Giora Kaplan — the four had been working on another startup and found that simply building it a website was complicated and expensive. She later worked as a venture investor. She died on 13 June 2020, at forty-five.
