Origins and early life
Avishai Abrahami was born in Jerusalem on 3 May 1971 and served in Unit 8200, the Israel Defense Forces' signals intelligence and cyber unit, leaving in 1992.
Work and career
In 2006 he founded Wix in Tel Aviv with Dr Orit Mossinson, his brother Nadav Abrahami and Giora Kaplan: the four were working on another startup, wanted a website for it, and found the process so complicated and expensive that they built the tool they had wanted. More than 180 million people in some 190 countries have since made websites on it without writing a line of code, and monday.com began life in 2012 as an internal Wix task-management tool.
He has been chief executive throughout. No source states his Jewish identity in so many words: an Israeli founder's biography has no reason to mention it.
