How & why

Theo Coster was born Maurice Simon in Amsterdam in 1928, into a family that owned a printing business, and was a classmate of Anne Frank; he survived the Holocaust by living with a non-Jewish family under a changed name, and later made a film and wrote a book with his surviving classmates. Ora, born in 1931, served in the Israeli army during the war of 1948. Married, they founded Theora Concepts in Israel and between them invented some two hundred games and toys, including Guess Who?, the two-player guessing game still in print after forty-five years, as well as Zingo!, Go Pop and Magimizer. Theo died in 2019 and Ora in 2021.
