Obadiah ben Abraham of Bertinoro was an Italian rabbi whose commentary on the entire Mishnah became the standard companion to the text, printed in almost every edition and still studied worldwide. Settling in Jerusalem around 1488, he also revived and led its Jewish community, and his letters are a key source on Land-of-Israel Jewry of the period. He was an observant Jewish scholar.
