Norman Zabusky is recognized among Jewish contributors to Science & Medicine — Co-discoverer of the soliton; Otto Laporte Award (2003)
Zabusky was a physicist who, with Martin Kruskal, discovered and named the soliton (1965) — stable, particle-like nonlinear waves in the Korteweg–de Vries equation — and was a pioneer of visualization in computational physics; he received the Otto Laporte Award in 2003. Born to a Jewish family in Brooklyn, he spent his later years in Israel, at Beersheba.
