How & why

Megiddo is an Israeli mathematician and computer scientist at IBM Research who devised linear-time algorithms for low-dimensional linear programming and pioneered the 'prune-and-search' and parametric-search techniques widely used in optimization and computational geometry; he received the von Neumann Theory Prize in 2014. He earned his doctorate at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is Israeli. His methods are foundational to efficient optimization.
