Mojżesz (Moritz) Presburger was a Polish mathematician and logician who, in 1929, proved the decidability of the first-order theory of the natural numbers with addition, now called Presburger arithmetic—a foundational result in mathematical logic and computer science. His single major paper became a cornerstone of decision procedures. He was Jewish and is believed to have been murdered in the Holocaust around 1943.
