Michel Kichka, born in Belgium in 1954, is the son of Henri Kichka, a survivor of Auschwitz who lost his entire family. He immigrated to Israel in 1974, studied at Bezalel and stayed to teach generations of Israeli illustrators, while his political cartoons appeared across the international press. His graphic memoir Second Generation — What I Never Told My Father (2012) drew, with humour and without self-pity, what it is to grow up as a survivor's son; it was adapted into the animated feature My Father's Secrets.
