Melville S. Green was an American statistical physicist known for the Green–Kubo relations, which express transport coefficients such as viscosity and thermal conductivity in terms of microscopic fluctuations, and for co-editing the influential 'Phase Transitions and Critical Phenomena' series. He led the statistical physics section of the National Bureau of Standards and later taught at Temple University. He is included among Jewish physicists in Jewish biographical references.
