How & why

Zaturenska was an American lyric poet who won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1938 for Cold Morning Sky. Born to a Jewish family in Kyiv, she emigrated to New York as a child, worked in a garment factory while attending night school, and rose through scholarships to a literary career.
