Marcia Davenport was an American novelist, biographer and music critic, author of best-selling novels including 'The Valley of Decision' and a noted biography of Mozart, and one of the first music critics at 'The New Yorker.' She was the daughter of the celebrated soprano Alma Gluck, of a Jewish family. She was of Jewish descent.
