Lionel Moskowitz

Lionel Moskowitz was an American oceanographer at the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office who, with Willard Pierson, formulated the Pierson–Moskowitz spectrum in 1964, an empirical description of the energy distribution of a fully developed wind-driven sea. The spectrum remains a standard tool in ocean engineering, wave forecasting and offshore design.
