Leon A. Greenberg was an American physiologist at Yale and later Rutgers who studied the physiology of alcohol and, in 1941, invented the Alcometer, an early breath-alcohol testing device that helped establish breath analysis as a scientifically valid method for measuring blood alcohol content. He long edited the Quarterly Journal of Studies on Alcohol. He is listed among Jewish biomedical scientists.
