László Szabó

László Szabó was a Hungarian chess grandmaster of Jewish origin who was among the world's strongest players from the late 1930s into the 1960s, competing in several Candidates tournaments for the world title. He won the Hungarian championship multiple times and represented Hungary in numerous Chess Olympiads. His documented Jewish background placed him among the generation of Hungarian Jewish players who survived the war and led the country's chess.
