How & why
Joseph Achron was a violinist and composer, a leading member of the Society for Jewish Folk Music who sought to create a distinctly Jewish art music, most famously in his Hebrew Melody for violin. He later settled in Hollywood, composing concert works and film scores. He was Jewish, and Schoenberg praised him as an underrated composer.
