Jeffrey Bleustein is recognized among Jewish contributors to Science & Medicine — Continuum mechanics
Bleustein, trained in engineering mechanics at Columbia, predicted in 1968 a new type of surface acoustic wave in piezoelectric materials, now called the Bleustein–Gulyaev wave, important in signal-processing devices. He later left academia for industry and became chairman and CEO of Harley-Davidson. He is listed among Jewish figures in continuum mechanics in Jewish biographical references (Jinfo); public biographies do not otherwise detail his religious identity.
