Jack Keil Wolf was an American information theorist and professor at UC San Diego who, with David Slepian, proved the Slepian–Wolf theorem (1973), a foundational result on distributed compression of correlated data, and who made major contributions to data-storage technology. He was elected to both the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Sciences. He is included among Jewish figures in the information sciences in Jewish biographical references.
