Biography

Itay Levi is recognized among Israeli contributors to Arts & Literature — Israeli singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of Mizrahi pop; seven studio albums

How & why

Itay Levi was born in Gan Yavne in 1988 to a Yemenite Jewish family; his father died of lung cancer when he was sixteen and his mother suffered several strokes. He waited two and a half years for permission to record 'Almost a Love Song', which became his breakthrough and appeared on his 2014 album. Named breakthrough of the year in 2015, he had the most-played song of 2016 with 'Party in Haifa'. A singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist working in Mizrahi pop and dance, he has released seven studio albums, took part in Israel's seventy-fifth Independence Day torch-lighting, and founded his own label after leaving the majors.
