Israel Yinon was an Israeli conductor celebrated for reviving the works of composers who had been banned and persecuted under the Nazis, restoring long-suppressed music to the concert stage. He was Jewish and Israeli. He died in 2015 after collapsing onstage while conducting a youth concert in Lucerne, Switzerland.
