Herb Alpert is an American trumpeter and music executive who led the Tijuana Brass to enormous 1960s success and co-founded A&M Records — the 'A' — building it into one of the largest independent labels ever. He is the only artist to top the U.S. charts both as a vocalist ('This Guy's in Love with You') and as an instrumentalist ('Rise'). He is Jewish, and a noted arts philanthropist.
