Henry Jaglom was an American independent writer-director and actor, a maverick of American indie cinema whose talky, improvisatory relationship films include 'A Safe Place,' 'Déjà Vu' and 'Eating'; he was also a close confidant of Orson Welles. Born into a Jewish family in London that fled the Nazi regime, he was through his mother a descendant of the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn.
