Harrison Forman is recognized among Jewish contributors to Arts & Literature — Co-created and co-hosts UpDating, turning the live reports he filed from his own dates in 2017 into a stage format played in more than 140 cities.
Origins and early life
Harrison Forman spent his childhood in New Jersey, went to college in Michigan and his early twenties in San Francisco before settling in New York, where he worked at Facebook.
Work and career
The show grew out of something he was already doing for nothing: in 2017 he began live-streaming himself before his own dates, filing a half-time report partway through the evening and coming back to his followers once it was over. Enough strangers followed along that a private joke turned out to be a format, and with the comedian Brandon Berman he built it into UpDating, launched in late 2018 — two strangers meet on a first date, blindfolded, on a stage, before an audience that asks the questions, with the daters giving the half-time report themselves.
It has since played more than a hundred and forty cities, from the Town Hall in New York to the Wilbur in Boston, with a twenty-one-city American tour running from July to December 2026; Forman co-hosts and produces. Online the YouTube channel has passed a million subscribers and the clips more than five billion views. He and Berman signed with WME in 2021 and with Brillstein Entertainment Partners in April 2025, and in January 2026 ITV America, the producer of Love Island USA, began developing a television version with the two of them as executive producers.
Forman is Jewish and says so openly and repeatedly from the stage of the show; no published profile of him records it, so this card rests on what he says in performance rather than on a printed source.
