Ernest Rabinowicz

Rabinowicz was a mechanical engineer and a founder of modern tribology — the science of friction, wear and lubrication — who spent his career at MIT and wrote the influential textbook Friction and Wear of Materials. His 'Rabinowicz criterion' for adhesive wear remains standard in the field.
