Eitan Neishlos is recognized among Jewish contributors to Civil Rights & Human Rights — Founder of the Neishlos Foundation (2022), which brought Holocaust education and the March of the Living to the Gulf, restored 8,000 children's shoes from Auschwitz and held the first Kristallnacht commemoration in the Arab world
Origins and early life
Eitan Neishlos was born in Israel and trained as a corporate lawyer, then spent more than twenty years working and investing in payments, financial technology and financial inclusion in South Africa, Australia and Israel.
Work and career
His philanthropy begins with his late grandmother, Tamara Zisserman, born Kantorovich, a Holocaust survivor saved in Belarus by a Christian family, the Chodosevitches, later murdered by the Nazis for protecting Jewish children. After her death he found a shoe box holding her handwritten testimony, and it set the course of his whole life. In Australia he chaired Courage to Care, a B'nai B'rith programme that has taught more than 200,000 young Australians about the dangers of prejudice, and he sat on the New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies.
In 2022 he founded the Neishlos Foundation, the philanthropic arm of his investment house Neishlos Capital, to promote Holocaust education and bonds between Jews and Arabs in the spirit of the Abraham Accords. On 28 April 2022, newly made the March of the Living's founder and ambassador in the Gulf states, he lit a torch at Auschwitz-Birkenau with Ahmed Obaid Al Mansoori, who led the first official delegation of the United Arab Emirates.
That September his foundation joined the March of the Living and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation in the Soul to Sole campaign to restore more than 8,000 shoes of children murdered in the Holocaust, and in November 2022 it held, with a Dubai museum, the first Kristallnacht commemoration in the Arab world. His Jewish life is attested by his seat on the New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies and at the head of a B'nai B'rith programme, and by his descent from a grandmother who survived the Holocaust as a hidden Jewish child.
Now based in Dubai, in 2023 he was among the Jerusalem Post's fifty most influential Jews, as a promising young Jewish leader of the next generation.
