David B. Sachar is an American gastroenterologist and longtime director of the Dr. Henry D. Janowitz Division of Gastroenterology at Mount Sinai in New York, a leading center for the study of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis). He was the first American elected chairman of the International Organization for the Study of IBD and helped shape modern classification and management of the disease. He is included among Jewish figures in biomedical science in Jewish biographical references.
