Leo Buerger was an Austrian-born American physician and urologist who in 1908 gave the first detailed clinical and pathological description of thromboangiitis obliterans, an inflammatory disease of the blood vessels now known as Buerger's disease. He was Jewish, born to a Jewish family in Vienna who emigrated to the United States.
