David Milstein

David Milstein is a German-born Israeli chemist at the Weizmann Institute of Science known for pioneering work in organometallic catalysis and metal-ligand cooperation, including 'pincer' complexes that activate strong bonds and enable green, atom-efficient reactions such as producing hydrogen from alcohols. His catalysts point toward more sustainable chemical manufacturing, and he received the Israel Prize for chemistry. He is Jewish; his family reached Israel from post-war Germany when he was two.
