David Chandler

Chandler was a theoretical chemist whose reformulation of the statistical mechanics of liquids and reaction dynamics — including transition path sampling and theories of hydrophobicity — became standard tools across chemistry and physics. He was a long-serving professor at UC Berkeley and author of an influential textbook on statistical mechanics. Reference works on Jewish scientists list him among Jewish chemists.
