Kahneman, working closely with Amos Tversky, showed that human judgment systematically departs from purely rational models, uncovering the mental shortcuts and biases that shape decisions under uncertainty, and received the 2002 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. A survivor of Nazi-occupied France as a Jewish child, he later served in the Israeli army and taught for many years at Princeton. His book 'Thinking, Fast and Slow' brought his ideas to a global audience.
