Amos Tversky was a cognitive psychologist who, with Daniel Kahneman, founded the study of heuristics and biases and co-developed prospect theory, transforming economics and decision science. Kahneman's Nobel Prize in Economics (2002) explicitly honored their joint work, which the committee noted would have been shared had Tversky lived. He was an Israeli Jew, born in Haifa.
