How & why

Corrado Böhm was an Italian computer scientist, a pioneer of structured programming: with Giuseppe Jacopini he proved the Böhm–Jacopini theorem (1966), showing any program can be written with only sequence, selection and iteration. He also made deep contributions to lambda calculus (the Böhm tree and Böhm's theorem) and functional programming. He is listed among Jewish computer scientists documented by Jinfo.org and left Italy in 1942 amid the Fascist racial laws.
