Charles Peskin

Peskin is an American mathematician at NYU's Courant Institute who invented the immersed boundary method, a computational technique for simulating the interaction of elastic structures with a surrounding fluid — first developed to model blood flow in the beating heart and now used across engineering and biology. He is a MacArthur Fellow and member of the National Academy of Sciences. His Jewish background is not explicitly documented in standard biographical sources.
