Boris Altshuler is recognized among Jewish contributors to Science & Medicine — Condensed matter theorist; quantum transport in disordered systems
Altshuler is a Russian-American theoretical physicist at Columbia University known for foundational work on quantum transport in disordered electronic systems. He first calculated the singular quantum-interference and interaction corrections to conductance now known as Altshuler–Aronov corrections, central to the physics of mesoscopic systems. Born to a Jewish family in Leningrad, he later moved to the United States, working at MIT, Princeton and Columbia.
