Bernhard Zondek is recognized among Jewish contributors to Science & Medicine — Gynecologist who co-developed the Aschheim-Zondek pregnancy test.

How & why

Bernhard Zondek was a gynecologist and endocrinologist who, with Selmar Aschheim, developed the first reliable biological pregnancy test (the Aschheim–Zondek test) by detecting a hormone in the urine of pregnant women. Forced from Germany by the Nazis, he continued his career at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and later in the United States. He was Jewish.
