Benjamin Santer

Santer is a climate scientist whose statistical detection-and-attribution work identified the human 'fingerprint' on global warming, central to the 1995 IPCC finding of a discernible human influence on climate; he received a MacArthur Fellowship in 1998 and the Rossby Medal. He was born in 1955 and educated in the United Kingdom, later working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
