Avi Wigderson is recognized among Jewish contributors to Technology & Engineering — Foundational work on complexity and randomness; Turing Award laureate.

How & why

Born in Haifa and trained at the Technion and Princeton, Wigderson spent his career at the Institute for Advanced Study exploring the deep role of randomness in computation and the limits of efficient algorithms. His work linking complexity theory, cryptography and pseudorandomness earned him the Abel Prize (2021) and the Turing Award (2023). He is an Israeli Jew.
