Arthur Jaffe is a mathematical physicist at Harvard who, with James Glimm, built much of constructive quantum field theory, giving rigorous mathematical foundations to interacting quantum fields. He co-founded and long led the Clay Mathematics Institute's early work and served as president of the American Mathematical Society. He is Jewish.
