Alexey Chervonenkis is recognized among Jewish contributors to Technology & Engineering — Co-created VC theory underlying statistical learning.

How & why

Alexey Chervonenkis was a Russian mathematician who, with Vladimir Vapnik, created the Vapnik–Chervonenkis (VC) theory — a foundation of statistical learning theory that measures the capacity of learning models and underlies modern machine learning. He died in 2014 after becoming lost in a national park near Moscow. He was Jewish.
