Yuri Trifonov is recognized among Jewish contributors to Arts & Literature — Author
Yuri Trifonov was a Soviet Russian author, one of the finest chroniclers of Soviet urban life, whose 'Moscow novels' ('The Exchange', 'The House on the Embankment') probed moral compromise, memory and the shadow of Stalinist terror with unusual candor. He was of Jewish ancestry through his mother, Yevgenia Lurie. His restrained, psychologically acute prose made him a major voice of the late-Soviet intelligentsia.
