Tony Kushner

Tony Kushner is an American playwright and screenwriter who won the 1993 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for 'Angels in America', his epic two-part play about AIDS, politics and identity in Reagan-era America. Raised in a Jewish family in Lake Charles, Louisiana, he writes openly about his Jewish and gay identity, which suffuses much of his work, and later wrote screenplays including 'Munich' and 'Lincoln'. His documented Jewish heritage is central to plays such as 'Angels in America' and 'Caroline, or Change'.
