George S. Kaufman was an American playwright, director and humorist who won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama twice — for 'Of Thee I Sing' and 'You Can't Take It with You' — often collaborating with Moss Hart, and was a wit of the Algonquin Round Table. He was born to a Jewish family in Pittsburgh. He was among Broadway's most successful comic dramatists.
