Roman Polanski is a French-Polish filmmaker (The Pianist, Chinatown, Rosemary's Baby). He was born in Paris to Polish-Jewish parents and grew up in Krakow; during the Holocaust his family was confined to the Krakow Ghetto and his mother was killed at Auschwitz. He is of Jewish descent.
