Robert Fischell is an American physicist and one of the most prolific medical-device inventors, holding more than 200 patents for implantable technologies including rechargeable cardiac pacemakers, implantable insulin pumps, coronary stents and devices to predict and interrupt epileptic seizures and migraines. His inventions have improved or saved millions of lives. He is of Jewish background and won the 2016 U.S. National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
