Pinchas (Pini) Cohen

Origins and early life

Pinchas Cohen, known as Pini, is the second son of the singers Shlomo Cohen — Suleiman the Great — and Sara Cohen, and the brother of Hofni, Izhar and Vardina Cohen.

Work and career

Like his sister he served as a soloist in the entertainment company of the Nahal, the army troupe from which a good part of Israeli song has come, and like the rest of the family he sang the repertoire of the campfire: he is one of the six voices on Zimrat Ha'Aretz with the Suleiman the Great family, the record made in 1994 by the parents and their four children. He has lived for many years in New York. Unlike his brothers and his sister he has no encyclopaedia article of his own, and this page holds only what the family's own entries state — that he was a singer in an army band, a soloist of the Nahal entertainment company, and one of the singers on the family record.

He should not be confused with the Israeli businessman of the same name, Pinchas (Pini) Cohen, born in 1951, who led Africa Israel and the Cross-Israel Highway company.
